Introduction

The SQL Lanuage is made up of three components:

• Data Manipulation Language (DML)
• Data Definition Language (DLL)
• Data Control Lanague (DCL)

This section will look at the DML Commands, which comprise of the following:

• SELECT: retrieves data from the tables
• INSERT: adds new rows of data to the tables
• DELETE: removes rows that are stored in the tables
• UPDATE: amends data that is stored in the tables
