The purpose of this handout is to introduce the reader to using SQL from the Oracle database management system (DBMS). It is intended to be supplemented by a lecture course. Spaces are provided throughout the document for the student to add notes and answers to questions. Commands to try out are in BOLD UPPERCASE e.g., SELECT * FROM DEPT Note, you will need to press RETURN after each line.
